JK Swachhta Pakhwada campaign 2024 to celebrate the 77th National Independence Day.
On the 1st of August 2024, under the esteemed patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Sumbal, in collaboration with the Sumbal Municipal Committee, launched the Swachhta Pakhwada campaign to celebrate the 77th National Independence Day. The event began with an introductory speech by Principal Madam, followed by the Swachhta Pledge to reaffirm our commitment to a clean and green India. College students, Sumbal MC employees, and all the teaching and non-teaching staff of GDC Sumbal participated in the event.
In her inspiring address, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl emphasized the importance of a clean India and the crucial role every citizen plays in maintaining cleanliness. She urged everyone not to litter their surroundings and to take active steps towards keeping the environment clean, highlighting that cleanliness is a shared responsibility that starts with each individual.
The Swachhta Pledge was then administered by Staff Secretary and NSS Co-Convener Dr. Nuzhat Gul Kababi. The pledge is a commitment to devote 100 hours per year to cleanliness activities, to not litter and to discourage others from doing so, and to propagate the message of the Swachh Bharat Mission in villages and towns.
Following the speeches and the pledge, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl flagged off the Sumbal MC workers and NSS volunteers. They embarked on a cleanliness drive to clean the college premises and surrounding locality, setting a practical example of the pledge taken. The event was a resounding success, demonstrating the college's and the community's commitment to a cleaner and greener India.
